Lost a super power - story of a fallen super hero

I used to have a super power that allowed me to wake up at the right bus/train stop. If I ever had a superhero name it would be sleepman (say it like Duffman)

On the way back home yesterday I fell asleep on the train (as usual) only to wake up at the end of the line in downtown - not so bad given that it's only 1 stop further than the one that I should have got off at. However this morning I fell asleep on the outbound train - fortunately I woke up 1 stop later in a familiar city. But the outbound train goes all the way to harvard! That's pretty much Wisconsin...not good

Sleepman says must stay awake...

First shower in 19mths

After dropping SY & her shopping pal off at State st, I was in a pretty cheery mood (the weather is perfect today in Chicago) and thought Helga (my car) was looking pretty tardy. It's not her fault - essentially I haven't washed her since I got her. Well she's gotten a wash everytime I take her for regular service but nothing like how I looked after Dora (my Concerto - rest her soul - in Adelaide). Dora used to get on average a full wash every 2-3wks. Today Helga got the full spa treatment, inside & out. Her mats even got a shampoo.

$20 (inc tip) is the most I've ever spent on a spa treatment for my car. Let me say though I've never seen a car washed so fast before. These blokes at fast eddy's live up to their name. 2 ppl shampoo down your car, clean your rims and scrub the car down. Then it's off to the finishing station where 2 blokes clean out the inside of your car (including along the door frames), another 2 vacuum and scrub the floor mats. They armourall the inside of your car aswell!

I'll be suprised if you're still reading up to this point. How interesting is my carwash story - really. It's not like it was Kelis' car wash with bikini babes, sponges and lots suds. That would probably set me back more than $20 with all the tips :). Anyways below is a pic of Helga in the finishing station. Unfortunately I only managed to get 1 of the 4 guys in the pic and his arse at that. Buy just look at how shiny she is.

The boston pops & lots of rain

On Friday night , Wei Xin, Leon, SY & myself bought tkts to see the Boston pops & rockefellas in Ravinia. The major attraction of going to Ravinia is buying a cheap lawn tkt and bring up food'n'booze for a picnic on the lawn under the stars (with some music). Well we knew there was going to be rain but didn't want to believe it so we got on the train at Chicago where it wasn't raining. We arrived at Ravinia (30mins nth) to a deluge of rain. It didn't really let up but we had no where to go - the train back wasn't for another 3hrs! So what else to do but make the most of it. We found a spot, setup camp and then began having our picnic :). By the end of the night we were fully soaked. I can't believe we sat it out, but I'm glad we did. I'd better run and pop some Vit-C & echinecia...

Chicago tours

Last week Kev stopped by in Chicago for a couple of days on his way to Cincinatti. It was really great to have another mate from the ol' Adelaide crew stop by. What did we get up to? well you'll just have to come to Chicago to experience SY & CH's super fabulous Chicago tour. Here's a sneak peak - North ave beach, paintball, food, eating, dining...

House of Blues

Ok so it's been a while since my last post but hopefully by going mobile I'll be more vigilent with my posting. Tonight I'm coming down from watching Chris Isaac at the house of blues. I'm not a huge fan of his and also don't know much of his music but his conccert was pretty good. Think Johnny Cash/American rock music. The ladies love him. I was there on a marketing field trip in the opera boxes. Rock on!
