Good food, good wine & great company!

What could be better than some good (home cooked) food, great wine & even better company? There isn't really much in my opinion...

The food:
- Pork & Eggs in Soy sauce
- Steamed Chicken
- Sambal Prawns
- Garlic Gai Lan
- Torte Caprese

The drinks:
- Moet Chandon Napa Valley Rose Champagne (Calafornia)
- Ralph Fowler Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 (Australia)
- Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico (Italy)

The people:
- Dick & Glendy
- Su-Yin (Executive Chef) & myself (Sous Chef)

This all made for a great evening. Honorable mention must be made to the executive chef of the evening who ran a tight ship in the kitchen and cooked up a storm.

Cheese cheese and more cheese

Not sure if I've mentioned this before but Americans sure love their cheese. Check out these cheese fries that we had as an appetizer (entree for Australians). Could Americans make fries any unhealthier? But you gotta love this stuff. For true decadence you go for the chilli (as in mince beef & beans) cheese fries at your local redhot.

Back to the cheese on cheese action. The appetizer below was prelude to our entree (main course). Pizza. Cheese and more cheese :). They even have parmaesan cheese to sprinkle on your pizza. How cheesy ;).

I declare the couch potato season open!

Hiatis (sp?) is now over. September is the month that all TV series begin. Desperate housewives, Charmed, CSI (Original, Miami and New York), etc etc begin. Hence I declare couch potato season open!

On the subject of couch potatoes - is this the picture definition of a couch potato? If so how I wish I could be a couch potato...

Cannon Balls

SY & I made these a while ago but I've been slack so I'm just posting them now. Glutonous rice filled with gulam malaka. Top stuff. How could we go wrong with the recipe from Aunty Pat - Adelaide's #1 Auntie Chef.

Carn the Crows

I haven't been keeping up with AFL at all but looks like it's SA vs WA in the finals. Crows vs. Eagles. CARN THE CROWS!!

PK's and Chicagoland

Last Thursday me mate Kristian (who used to work for GSG-Adel but now lives in Florida) came up to visit. Had an absolute ball. Let's just say 2am was the earliest that we went to sleep. Check his blog out at sine qua non. Perhaps the biggest highlight for me was going to Wiener Circle and seeing Kristian order a 'chocolate milkshake'. You're going to have to stretch your dirty mind for this one...

Oh Can-naa-daaaaa

The road trip began on Thursday where we drove to Niagara falls. Not much to do there but see the spectular Niagara Falls. On Friday we spent a short while at Niagara on the Lake. Then it was off to Toronto for the main event of the weekend - Brigitte & Yannis' Wedding. I've been to a few weddings over the last few years but I have to say that was probably the one that rocked the most. Trinidanians & Greeks partying together. I mean 90% of everyone got up to dance. Great food & drinks too ;)

Toronto, more specifically the city of Markham, was an Asian culinary delight. Shang Hai Xiao Long Bao - need I say more. Right up there with Crystal Jade Garden in Singapore and the stuff I had in Hong Kong. Top notch Asian food. I could go on and on but I think I'll just leave it here.
